iOS 6.1 Beta 5

If you are an iOS developer, you would be excited to know that the Cupertino tech giant has released the fifth iteration of the iOS 6.1 Beta operating system. Yes, the next Beta is out for download. A lot of us had expected that Apple would release the iOS 6.1 Golden Master soon. But unfortunately, the company has released another Beta version now, pushing back the release of the Golden Master a few more weeks.

The first iteration of the iOS 6.1 Beta was made available to the developers in November of last year. And the fourth iteration was made public in mid December last year. So this fifth iteration of the Beta operating system comes almost after a gap of one month, which led the developers to expect the iOS 6.1 Golden Master soon.

The iOS 6 version of the operating system brought in a lot of changes and new features to the table. For example, the new Apple developed maps which was not received well by the users for obvious reasons, the Facebook integration into the operating system, Photo Stream, Passbook, and many others.

The new iOS 6.1 is going to enhance these features and bring in some new ones. For example, the Map Kit Framework in the new iOS 6.1 will be more enhanced which will let users “search for map-based place names and points of interest with natural language strings.” A developer who has access to the Beta release of the new operating system gave an example where a search for “coffee” returned the details and locations of a bunch of coffee places nearby.

Not just that. With the new iOS 6.1, you will be able to order movie tickets from Siri using Fandango. And when you are setting up a new device, you will have refined cloud security steps. So, if you are an iOS developer and want to get your hands dirty with this new release, you can download it from Apple’s developer web site.
