Even though tuition prices are on the rise, Michigan State University officials have been spending lavishly on a variety of questionable endeavors. Now, some may argue that these are expenditures that are needed for the colleges, but others could argue that they are not, and the subsequent rising costs of tuition are being hugely impacted by this irresponsible spending.
Tuition costs have gone up by 20% following deep cuts for Michigan State University. Students such as Mike Havern have to work two-jobs to stay in college. Havern, who is the third oldest of 11 children has parents that cannot afford to help him with college. “I have to make sacrifices for sure, I don’t really have another option,” he says. “If I’m not working, I won’t be able to pay the bills”.
With such belt tightening taking place for students, it has come as a shock to many that school officials have spent hundreds of thousands of school dollars on travel, entertainment and meals.
